In many ways, it feels like the era of 'movie games' is over - if anything, it's the era of 'videogame movies.' With Expedition 33, Arc Raiders, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance all set to get big screen adaptations following the success of League of Legends: Arcane, the Mario Movie, and Minecraft, it feels like Hollywood has realized that gaming is, in fact, a goldmine, or is, alternatively, out of its own ideas. But, while videogame adaptations have gone well over the past few years, videogame spin-offs of films haven't. I lament how mid Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was (even with the Fire and Ash-inspired DLC), and as much as I'm excited for Arkane's Blade (if it ever comes out), I have my reservations. It's why it took me a while to pick up Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, despite my love for the franchise - the recent movies haven't done much for Indy, why would the game be any better?

Xenonauts 2 developer Goldhawk Interactive has revealed that, after nearly three years in early access, the tactical strategy game will be throwing you out of the frying pan and into the fires of an Earth set ablaze by alien invasion next month. Prior to launch, Bungie was very cryptic about how we would access Cryo Archive, Marathon's upcoming, challenging fourth map that will be a lucrative but high-stakes zone. We know that it's set aboard the actual Marathon ship, which floats abandoned above the planet of Tau Ceti IV, and that it holds some big secrets as to what happened to the colony on board - and the UESC's real game plan. We also know it'll provide a tough survival experience where you'll need extremely good gear. However, Cryo Archive was merely given a rough 'mid March' window in Bungie's Marathon roadmap, and it's up to the community to unlock it. Well, we've just got one big step closer, as the first stage of an ARG has been completed, and it also provides some more glimpses of this intimidating map.
