Its so simple and very filling.A SIMPLE CROCK POT MEALIf these crazy named Crock Pot Swamp Potatoes sound familiar to you, its because they went crazy viral on TikTok a couple months ago thanks to Southern Frugal Momma. So I cannot take credit at all for this recipe, but once I saw it, I knew I had to try it out. I have no idea where folks come up with these names. I am convinced people will come up with the craziest recipe names so they get attention. I guess it worked though because we are all over here making it ha! I mean, theyre ugly as sin, so the name fits but they sure are delicious and it really is a whole meal in one with the smoked sausage, potatoes and green beans. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:What to serve with Swamp Potatoes? While I think these are a whole meal all by themselves, I think these are great with a side salad or some sliced French bread, or both! What else can I add to this mixture? Add sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, or carrots for extra vegetables. Top the dish with shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan, or crumbled bacon. Fresh herbs like parsley, chives or green onion make great garnishes. What potatoes can I use in place of yellow potatoes? If you dont have Yukon Gold potatoes, you want to choose some that will hold up well while cooking in the Slow Cooker. Red potatoes hold up nicely. However, russet potatoes might get a tad too mushy and may become mashed potatoes while cooking. What can I use instead of Italian seasoning mix? If you dont have Italian seasoning, you can use Ranch Seasoning instead. Or try your own favorite seasoning mix. Some users commented on that original video that they would use cajun seasoning. I used beef smoked sausage.canned green beans The canned green beans do kind of fall apart a little since they get so tender. The original recipe called for fresh green beans that she snapped in half and she put those on the bottom first. So you can use fresh or even frozen here. I saw a few different takes on this recipe from other users and I decided to go with canned to keep it easy. Or if you dont like green beans, just leave them out. packet Italian dressing seasoning mix you can use whatever brand you enjoy, or if you have Homemade Italian dressing seasoning, you can use that instead. Another option for this mix is using some Ranch Seasoning instead. Also, some folks commented on the original recipe video that they thought cajun seasoning would work great here. unsalted butter you could use salted butter if needed, as it doesnt truly contain all that much salt in it. If you would like to cut the amount of butter used in half, it should still turn out nicely.
