    Written in Rock
A small rock found in the African desert has just handed scientists an extraordinary window into one of the most violent and consequential periods in the history of the Solar System. Inside this lunar meteorite, a chunk of the Moon knocked to Earth by an ancient collision, researchers have found evidence of a massive impact event 3.5 billion years ago, one that matches the timing of known impacts on Earth and in the asteroid belt. Three worlds but one shared bombardment and a story that may have everything to do with the origins of life.

    Titan's Hidden Blanket
Saturn's moon Titan has long fascinated scientists, its a world with rivers, lakes, and a thick atmosphere, all made not of water but of methane. Now, a new study suggests Titan is stranger than first imagined since beneath its surface lies a 9 km thick crust of methane laced ice that acts like a giant thermal blanket, warming the interior in ways nobody expected.

Kitten Who Couldn't Stand on Her Own Arrived at Foster Care and Showed Everyone Nothing Was Going to Stop Her
A kitten who couldn't walk or stand on her own arrived at a foster care. She showed everyone that nothing would stop her from being a kitten. PresentCredit: Urban Cat CoalitionWhen a tiny fuzzy kitten named Present came into foster care with Urban Cat Coalition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, her caregivers knew right away that she would need something extra. She was born with a condition that affects her balance and coordination, far more severely than most cats with the same diagnosis. While many cats with wobbly cat syndrome simply tip over now and then, Present is unable to walk or stand at all.She did not let that slow her down for a moment.Present learned early on to navigate life on her side, scooting herself wherever she needed to go with surprising speed and determination. Sometimes she manages to push herself upright, only to flop back down a moment later, completely unbothered. Her foster family watched her quietly invent her own workarounds, one after another, with the calm resourcefulness of a kitten who decided the rules did not apply to her. Credit: Urban Cat Coalition"Present is the gift that keeps on giving," her foster family shared with LoveMeow. "This fuzzy little kitty is the sweetest ever." She scoots beautifully across carpet, but the moment she hits a hardwood floor, it becomes enthusiastic, if fruitless, flailing until one of her people swoops in to help. She once Usain Bolted across the living room the moment her foster mom turned on the vacuum cleaner, which tells you everything you need to know about her sense of urgency when properly motivated.Getting around, it seems, has never once felt like a problem to Present. Credit: Urban Cat CoalitionFor travel between rooms, she has found the perfect solution. She hitches a ride in her foster's hooded sweater, tucked in close and perfectly content, exactly where she feels most at home. Most of all, she loves to be held. She purrs nonstop in her people's arms, and that is exactly where she prefers to spend her time. Her foster family has risen to every challenge with the same creativity and care she brings to everything she does. Credit: Urban Cat Coalition They learned to time her bathroom trips right after meals. "She just needs someone to hold her upright in the litterbox and grasp her back foot for optimum pottying leverage," her foster family shared with a laugh. They rigged a special little harness to hold her upright at mealtimes, solving the problem of her own legs kicking her food bowl away before she could finish eating. The same harness doubles as gentle daily therapy, giving her body a chance to stretch, strengthen, and rest in a new position for a while.Present gets most of her hydration from wet food, and her foster family has found creative ways to keep her well-watered, including a small hamster-style water dispenser she will happily drink from when it is offered. Credit: Urban Cat Coalition For all the care that takes, Present gives it back in full. She lights up for crinkly toys and can move with impressive speed the moment a crinkly ball rolls past. She loves dangly toys, tippy toys, and anything that moves unpredictably. She naps for a solid stretch under the couch as if getting in her beauty sleep, then emerges ready for the next round. She can get herself down a flight of stairs like a slinky, then meows at the bottom because going back up is a different matter entirely. Credit: Kris Kaiser | Wobbly Cat Mom Her foster family even built her a small crib so she could sleep safely in the family bed at night. And like any determined little soul worth knowing, Present has already mastered the art of escaping it to ambush wiggling toes beneath the blankets.Present is the kind of kitten who makes everyone who meets her fall completely in love. She is small, she is wobbly, and she is certain that none of that matters even a little bit. Credit: Urban Cat CoalitionShe is looking for a patient, devoted family with the time and heart to meet her exactly where she is. In return, she will be the brightest, purringest, most determinedly cheerful presence they have ever welcomed through their door. Some kittens come into your life and quietly change everything. Present is one of those kittens. Credit: Urban Cat CoalitionShare this story with your friends. View more on Present and Urban Cat Coalition on Facebook.
