Theyre super easy to make and I love when I have another reason to make my homemade Big Mac Sauce (so good yall, its my favorite to use for my Big Mac Salad!)FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:Can I use a store bought sauce instead? Sure! If you dont want to make the homemade Big Mac sauce, you can grab a bottle from the store. Using a store bought burger sauce will speed things up. Walmart makes a burger sauce and so does Kinders that are similar and would work nicely (these are not paid affiliate links.) How do I modify this recipe to use all the tortillas? Since the street tacos tortillas come in a 12 pack and this recipe just makes 8 tacos, youll need another 1/2 pound of meat so you can use all the tortillas in the pack. Can I make Big Mac Smashburger Tacos on a Blackstone? Of course! I think these would be amazing when you make them on a Blackstone or similar flat top grill. Youd follow the same directions. Can I just smash the burgers on the skillet instead? You can also just smash the burger balls directly onto the skillet with shell on top, but I found it easier to get the burger extra flat before smashing.Do what you would like to, either way should work. Why do I need two pans? You dont have to have a second pan on low heat. You can just flip the burger over in the same pan. However, I found that the tortilla can burn quickly if you arent super careful. Using a warming pan to melt the cheese allowed the tortillas to become slightly charred but still pliable so they would hold together when folding in half. How long are leftovers good for? Leftovers can be stored in a container and can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days. The tortillas may get soggy over time. Freeze leftovers in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)street size tortillas you can use corn or flour tortillas, either will work for this recipe.ground beef I used 80/20. I suggest you use a leaner meat for less shrinkageAmerican cheese This is supposed to be like a Big Mac, so American Cheese is what I suggest using, but you could switch things up. Instead of using American cheese, you can use Pepper Jack cheese. If you want American cheese that tastes like McDonalds cheese, grab the American deli cheese from Walmart (not a paid affiliate link).salt and pepper or you could use your steak seasoningmayonnaiseFrench dressing this is all for the Big Mac Sauce, if you dont like to use French Dressing, check out my other version over on my recipe for Big Mac Salad.dill pickle relish or you could finely dice some dill pickles. You could even use sweet relish if you like it a little sweeter. dried minced oniongranulated sugarwhite vinegargarlic cloves fresh or jarred stuff works fine here.topping ideas: lettuce, diced onion and pickle slices you do not have to top your smash burger with any of these. You can just cook them up and top with what you like!HOW TO MAKE BIG MAC SMASHBURGER TACOSTo a small bowl, add all the sauce ingredients. Whisk to combine. Set aside.Divide the ground beef evenly into 8 balls (about 2 ounces each.) Place each ground beef ball into the center of each tortilla. Use your hands to squish the burger onto the shell and all the way to the sides. Dont worry if there is any overhang as when the burger cooks it will shrink a bit.Repeat the process with all 8 burgers. Then sprinkle each burger with salt and pepper or a sprinkle of steak seasoning. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Take your burger and place it beef-side down on the hot skillet.Use a solid metal spatula to press down on the burger to really sear the meat all over. Set a timer for two minutes. Continue to smash often for this time.Begin heating up a separate skillet over low heat. When the time is up, use your spatula to lift the burger and place it tortilla-side down in the other skillet that is over lower heat. Add the cheese and allow it to melt slightly before removing the burger to a platter.
