Kittens Born to a Feral Cat Turn into Happiest Bunch When They Realize Their World is About to Be Much Better
Three kittens born to a feral cat became the happiest bunch when they realized their lives were about to get a whole lot better. Flower, Bambi, and ThumperAlyssa @orlandofosterkittensFor the first few weeks of their lives, three kittens, Bambi, Thumper, and Flower, were hidden away by their feral mother, who had evaded rescue for years.Volunteers from Liberation Cat House had been trying to get her spayed, but she had outsmarted every humane trap. "We're not giving up and hope to eventually be able to end the cycle (of endless litters)," Alyssa, a volunteer with the rescue, told Love Meow. When the kittens were located, the team knew they had to act fast. Alyssa @orlandofosterkittensKittens are best left with their mother until they are weaned, as this gives them the strongest chance of survival. Even so, most kittens born outdoors do not survive to adulthood."Their mom has a track record of hiding her kittens until they're far too old and feral to be socialized. We had to act immediately so these kittens would have a chance at a better life. The first week was a rollercoaster for all of us." Alyssa @orlandofosterkittensAt first, everything was new and confusing for the kittenssoft blankets, bowls of food and water, and a caring human tending to their every need. But it didn't take long for them to realize they were safe.Getting them onto solid food was a rocky transition. "I worried they weren't eating enough or gaining weight in the beginning." Alyssa @orlandofosterkittensAlyssa spent hours each day patiently teaching them to eat from a dish, guiding them with a baby spoon while offering words of encouragement. When the kittens finally caught on, their appetites took off. They devoured their meals and began growing by leaps and bounds. "I'm proud to say they've finally gotten the hang of it, and they're truly thriving." Alyssa @orlandofosterkittensAs their strength and confidence grew, their curious and adventurous sides quickly emerged. They explored every corner of their space, claiming toys and cat furniture as their own. "They were definitely happy to finally have a warm, soft bed to snuggle up in."Now that they are bigger and stronger, their personalities are beginning to shine. Alyssa @orlandofosterkittensFlower, the gray kitten with a hint of dilute tortie coloring, may be the smallest of the trio, but what she lacks in size she more than makes up for with sass. Thumper, the gray kitten with white mittens, boasts the loudest purr motor and turns it on the moment he's touched. And "Bambi has the cutest and most unique markings." Alyssa @orlandofosterkittensIn just one week, the kittens have fully embraced indoor life. They actively seek out attention from their foster mom and spend their days wrestling with one another. "They're at the cutest age where they're not quite coordinated enough to full-out run, so they do the silliest little waddles instead."When playtime finally wears them out, all three pile into their foster mom's lap for naps. Alyssa @orlandofosterkittensOnce timid and unsocialized, the kittens have transformed into affectionate little lap cats who love being held and cuddled, as if they'd never known life outdoors. They turn just about anything into a toy, even the scale, which they attempt to squeeze into all at once.Whenever they curl up on their foster mom, they melt into contented puddles, purring themselves to sleep. Flower and BambiAlyssa @orlandofosterkittensWhile rescuers continue their efforts to ensure the feral mother is spayed and receives the care she needs, Bambi, Thumper, and Flower are living their best lives indoors."I can't wait to see their personalities continue to develop over the next several weeks." Kitten Meets Another Cat with a Similar Past, They Hit It Off Like They've Been Waiting for Each Other
A kitten met another cat with a similar past. They immediately hit it off as if they'd been waiting for each other their whole lives. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealA tabby kitten was found outside with no mother or siblings. Sickly and frail, she didn't resist when a kind stranger scooped her up and rushed to find help.Once indoors, she was kept warm and given food and water. Completely exhausted from her ordeal, she lay quietly, trying to regain her strength. When rescuers from Chatons Orphelins Montreal learned about her situation, they sprang into action."We took her under our wing. She was a tiny kitten, barely two months old. We named her Atika," the rescue shared. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealAtika was treated for an upper respiratory infection and stomach issues. With a dedicated foster family caring for her, she could finally begin to heal. "She didn't know humans, so she felt lost and overwhelmed when she first arrived."Little by little, she realized that food was plentiful and gentle hands meant safety. The fear in her eyes began to fade. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealAs she continued to recover, she grew stronger and more trusting of people, especially those who brought her food. Before long, she ventured out of her cubby bed, seeking pets and affection. She came out of her shell and fully embraced her new life as a pampered indoor cat. ChatonsOrphelinsMontreal"She is sweet and gentle, but still anxious in unfamiliar environments. With positive reinforcement, she has started to play and can't get enough of it."Once she discovered cuddles, she wanted more. For most of her young life, Atika had been alone, wandering the streets and struggling to survive. Now that she was safe and healthy, she longed for a companion to share her world with. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealAround that time, a calico named Pastel had been rescued from the harsh outdoors. A few weeks older than Atika, she had a similar story of survival. After recovering from an injury, she, too, needed a friend, so the rescue decided to introduce the two.Atika immediately trotted up to her new buddy, brushing against her and greeting her with enthusiasm, as if she'd been waiting for her all along. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealThe two became instant friends, following each other everywhere like long-lost sisters. "They play and groom each other. Atika imitates Pastel a lot, and together they have a beautiful synergy."Atika is a bit more reserved and takes time to warm up to new people before showing her cuddly side, while Pastel is bold, curious, and always ready for the next adventure. ChatonsOrphelinsMontreal"Even though they aren't from the same litter, they've formed an incredibly close bond."Their personalities complement each other perfectly, like yin and yang. Pastel has brought out Atika's playful, mischievous side. They race through the house, leap onto furniture, and turn every room into their playground. "They're little rascals who love to play with anything that moves." ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealWhen they aren't wrestling or chasing each other, they're curled up together like two peas in a pod. With Pastel by her side, Atika has grown braver, setting off on one adventure after another. They adore the other cats in the house and never turn down treats from their humans. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealAfter a rough start to life, Atika found her way into a loving foster home, where she not only healed but met her best friend.Together, they are thriving, filling their days with joy, affection, and plenty of shared mischief.
