Marvel Rivals Season 4 reveal confirms new hero that's something of an outsider

Marvel Rivals Season 4: The Season of the Dragon, is just around the corner. Developer Netease has dropped a trailer revealing that a pair of new heroes are joining Marvel Rivals' roster during the course of the season. One is Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, who most Marvel fans will certainly be familiar with. But the other, angelic badass Angela, is a relative newcomer to the Marvel Universe, and could have some fans scratching their heads. So just who is Angela, and where did she come from?

Angela, Marvel Rivals' upcoming new hero, will be the 42nd warrior to join the multiplayer game, arriving at the start of Season 4 on September 12, 2025. Angela is a heavenly assassin who initially lived in the Spawn universe.

Her leap to the Marvel Universe was the result of a legal wrangling between the character's co-creators, Todd McFarlane and Neil Gaiman. Gaiman won and ultimately sold the character to Marvel in 2013.

She was unceremoniously yanked into the Marvel Universe in the Age of Ultron storyline, and was later established as the sister of Thor. She later appeared as part of the Strikeforce team and now, with Marvel Rivals, she's stepping into the limelight once more.

According to Netease, Marvel Rivals' Season 4 storyline will see her go head-to-head with Hela, a current character in the free PC game. Meanwhile, Doctor Doom is attempting to steal the power from a slumbering dragon, Shou-Lao. That's bound to end well.

The trailer also shows off a stunning new look for Daredevil. It's unclear whether he'll slot into this season as hero or villain. He's traditionally the former, but he's turned to the dark side a couple of times in the comics. That has included a stint leading the villainous sect of ninjas known as The Hand.

You'll be able to play as Angela in Marvel Rivals Season 4 on September 12, 2025. Her abilities haven't yet been disclosed, but aerial combat is likely to be in her repertoire. Daredevil is predicted to join Marvel Rivals later down the line in the mid-Season 4 update.
