1. Candy Apples

Candy apples are a fall favorite and the epitome of Halloween nostalgia. There's nothing like biting into a crisp, tart apple that's been dunked in sweet, luxuriously creamy caramel to make you feel like autumn has arrived. What's fun about caramel apples is how customizable they are. Stick with the classic recipe and dip Granny Smith apples in caramel, or give the nostalgic treat a 2025 upgrade with salted caramel. Get fancy and drizzle caramel apples with chocolate and coat them with tasty toppings like chopped nuts, crushed cookies, or fall-themed sprinkles.

2. Lollipop Tissue Ghosts

Lollipop tissue ghosts are the ultimate Halloween throwback craft and snack. They're fun to make and are a great addition to party favor bags and trick-or-treating candy bowls. You'll need an assortment of lollipops, tissue paper, ribbon, and markers. Stay true to the retro Halloween snack and use white tissue paper, black ribbon, and a black marker to decorate the ghost's face. Or get creative with colorful tissue paper embellished with glitter and festive patterned ribbon or twine.

3. Mummy Hot Dogs

When it comes to nostalgic Halloween snacks, mummy hot dogs are a classic that puts a spooky spin on pigs in a blanket. Not only do they look fun and festive, they're easy to make and only use two ingredients: refrigerated crescent dough and hot dogs. This makes them a great last-minute Halloween party snack and one that's simple enough for kids to help make. Serve the appetizer with traditional condiments like ketchup and mustard, which can also be used to draw funny faces on the mummies.

4. Rice Krispie Treats

Get into the Halloween spirit by making a batch of festive Rice Krispie treats. This favorite nostalgic treat has been around since the late 1930s and while it tastes good year-round, it's particularly fun to customize for Halloween. To put an autumnal spin on the classic, use orange food coloring and shape Rice Krispie treats into pumpkins, adding pretzel sticks and piped green leaves to the top to serve as stems. For a spooky twist, make Rice Krispie treats into the shape of ghosts, covering the tops with a drizzle of white chocolate and giving the ghosts faces using edible googly-eyes. If you want to stick with a classic square shape, give the treat a candy corn-inspired makeover with a three-layer yellow, orange, and white design.

5. Popcorn Balls

Old-fashioned popcorn balls are the nostalgic treat that instantly evokes memories of sticky hands and fall festivities. Gaining popularity in the 1950s, they became a Halloween staple loved by kids and adults alike. Popcorn balls are sweet, a little chewy, a little crunchy, and munching on one will instantly take you back to being a kid. The nostalgic Halloween snack is also easy to make and can be customized with the addition of food coloring, candies, nuts, different flavors of popcorn, and spooky additions like edible googly-eye sprinkles.

6. Dirt Pudding

Dirt pudding has to be the Halloween snack that's most fun to decorate—and eat! Made to look like a creepy graveyard, Halloween dirt pudding starts with a layer of thick chocolate pudding that's topped with crushed chocolate cookies. Once this double-chocolate base has set, it's time to get creative. Insert shortbread or vanilla cookies in the cookie dirt to look like graves, then arrange gummy worms, sprinkles, and pumpkin candies around to complete the scene. Make a batch in a large baking pan and make it the centerpiece of your Halloween dessert table, or make dirt pudding in individual cups to elevate the nostalgic Halloween classic.
