Acclaimed PC cooling firm Noctua has stated that it would "love to" make an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card with its partner, Asus, but that it can't because the supply of these top-end GPUs is so scarce. Asus has now made several quiet graphics cards in collaboration with Noctua, with its latest RTX 5080 Noctua Edition clad in the brown and beige livery synonymous with the brand, but there's a notable lack of an RTX 5090 version.

Noctua makes many of our favorite cooling products, with its gear getting top spots in our guides to buying the best CPU cooler, as well as the best PC fan. With premium build quality and a commitment to low-noise operation, its products are very popular with PC hardware enthusiasts who want to keep powerful components cool without their PC making a horrible noise.

As such, a card based on the RTX 5090 with a Noctua cooler sounds like a match made in heaven. However, in comments made to tech site Kit Guru, the company said that this is an impossibility right now. Jakob Dellinger, who does Noctua's PR and product management, told the site that the company would "love to do a 5090," saying that the flagship GPU "would be a perfect fit" for Noctua's cooling abilities. However, the site says that Dellinger stated that the reason why there isn't such a product is that the supply of RTX 5090 GPUs is simply too scarce right now.

Dellinger also speculated to the site about how a Noctua RTX 5090 card might look, saying that the company could potentially use a similar vapor chamber to the one used on the top-end Asus RTX 5090 Astral, while possibly also using 8mm heatpipes throughout the design. Comparatively, the RTX 5080 Noctua Edition has a mix of 8mm and 6mm heatpipes in the cooler.

As I found in my Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 review, this top-end GPU can't be beaten when it comes to gaming performance, but it's let down by a sky-high price, even at MSRP. However, the launch has been beset by supply woes, pushing up prices to extreme levels - even now, over half a year later, you still can't readily buy one for the $1,999 MSRP in the US.
