Being kicked from a multiplayer game is never a good time, but being told that it's happened because your account is being accessed elsewhere is certain to set alarm bells ringing. That's what happened to Rainbow Six Siege X players yesterday, however. Fortunately for those affected, Ubisoft has stepped in to reassure that the message was erroneous and appeared as a result of a server issue.

After more than a decade, Rainbow Six Siege X reinvents the tactical multiplayer game with a more transformative update than the average seasonal overhaul, but without pushing it into full sequel territory. So far, it's reinvigorated player numbers on Steam, especially with the ability to jump in and try the quick match and unranked modes as a free Steam game. Damien handed it a rousing 8/10 in our Rainbow Six Siege X review, saying its changes "set the stage for the next ten years."

The build up to Year 10 Season 3, however, has just been rudely interrupted by this latest server problem. Multiple commenters on social media and several Reddit threads popped up from people who were unceremoniously booted from the game mid-match, with a message warning that their account had been accessed from another platform. Some add that, after restarting, they were told that servers were unreachable. Others say they were quick to change their passwords as a safety precaution.

Fortunately, it appears to be a false alarm. The Ubisoft Support account writes, "Yesterday, a service degradation caused players to be disconnected from their ongoing games, with some receiving the error: 'your account is being accessed on another platform.' We can confirm this was a false error triggered by the degradation." The publisher says that anyone worried should check their login history from the security settings tab on the Ubisoft account page.

With that reassurance, we can go back to anticipating the new update. Damien recently spoke with creative director Alexander Karpazis, who tells us the team is focused on following "its own path" in the wake of the redesign.

If you're considering giving the FPS game a try, be sure to check the Rainbow Six Siege X system requirements. You might also want to consider grabbing the best gaming headset right now to ensure you don't miss a single footstep.
