How do you get the Grounded 2 Scarlet Aegis? If you and your friends take buggies into battle, this powerful shield can set your team up for success with a single perk. Follow the steps below and you should be able to grab this hidden Grounded 2 weapon (well, shield) without much trouble.

Once you have the Scarlet Shield, consider pairing it with the Crimson Avenger—another hidden weapon you can snag for nothing. And if you still need a few upgrades before taking on bigger bugs around the Grounded 2 park, seek the many Milk Molar locations around the park for some powerful perks to help you conquer the survival game.

Here's how to get the Scarlet Aegis shield in Grounded 2:

  • Unlock the Red Soldier Ant buggy.
  • Craft a Bratburst and take a trip to Ceremony.
  • Find the Scarlet Aegis location.
  • Chew through the roots and blow up the blockage.
  • Grab the Scarlet Aegis shield.

Recommended Scarlet Aegis equipment

Nabbing the Scarlet Aegis requires a few pieces of Grade II equipment—namely an upgraded Omni-Hammer and a Bratburst explosive. You'll also need the Red Soldier Ant buggy unlocked. We also highly recommend picking up some equipment to help take down any scorpions you find along the way.

Make your Bratburst bomb

First up, you need to make a Bratburst. Once you have your Red Soldier Ant buggy unlocked, ride it back into the Hatchery Ant Hill. Head in with your buggy through any of the entrances and grab a Red Ant Egg from deep within.

Next, you need to find Spicy Shards. You can break these from Spicy Candy with your Grade II Omni-Hammer. If you don't have that unlocked, look into how to get Lingonberry Leather and how to beat Ladybugs to get the materials required for the upgrade.

Once you have your Bratburst, ride your Red Soldier Ant buggy to the Ceremony biome. The hidden shield is found in a hacker den around the Ceremony area—specifically northeast of its Ranger Station, or just north of the large rock on the map.

Look for a cave at the base of a mound blocked by dead roots. Get your ant friend to chew through the blockade and head inside. Though this is a short journey, it's also dangerous thanks to the scorpions inside, so be prepared to fight against these pesky bugs.

Follow the path all the way down, beat up the baby scorpion, then take a right at the fork. Battle the bigger beastie here and the smaller one that gets involved. After that, take a left where it once stood. Beyond the mist ahead, you should see a clearly cracked wall begging for a big blast of your Bratburst—toss the bomb and wait for the bang.

Head through the newly created entrance in the wall; among the rubble and wreckage should be a chest in the left corner. Loot it to discover the Scarlet Aegis weapon alongside some upgrade materials, a Healbasa, and some other goodies.

Is the Scarlet Aegis in Grounded 2 good?

The Scarlet Aegis is a souped-up version of the Ladyguard, meaning its stats are the same as an item you could have crafted. However, that's not the whole story.

This improved Ladyguard shield rewards your perfect blocks by healing nearby battle mounts for 5% of their health. Paired with heavy gear and a powerful melee weapon, you can easily become a solo army if you don't count your creepy crawly friends as proper partners.

Now that you're the toughest kid in the park, consider taking on the Cockroach Queen while you grab the Gloom Skewer. After the Pinch Whacker, which has an unlock process similar to this, it's probably the best one-handed melee weapon to pair with the Scarlet Aegis.
