Arc Raiders is at an all-time low price, but this deal is only available for 48 hours

The adrenaline of pulling off an impossible extraction, and the frustration of eventually dying with all your hard-earned loot is exactly why Arc Raiders keeps me coming back for more. Embark Studios' second game, following the brilliance of The Finals, was a true surprise. Despite being an extraction shooter with ties to more competitive audiences, it was a phenomenon. Even my grandma was playing it (not really, she was too busy on Candy Crush). If you still haven't tried it yourself, here's your chance to give it a go. But be quick, as Fanatical's all-time low price is only available for 48 hours.

Anyone familiar with extraction games will know exactly what Arc Raiders offers, but for those who don't know this niche genre, the gist is that you head into each map with some gear, survive against enemy NPCs and other Raiders, and (hopefully) get out with more loot than you came in with. The catch? Well, if you die, that's it - the gear you brought in, and the loot you found, will join you in your makeshift coffin, so you'll be back to square one. That's annoying, sure, but that is the reason I, and many others, keep coming back for more.

Your home and safety can be found in the makeshift Toledo, a settlement below the surface, but you'll regularly have to leave that safe space to complete missions for different factions in the hopes of tasty rewards. ARC robots roam the Earth, and during times when there are fewer of them, it's your job to head to the surface, get goods and powerful gear, and extract with them back to Toledo. Any time you're out in the field, you're under constant threat from enemies, so you'll feel a strong drive to get back to your haven with your loot ASAP.

Despite being a genre that usually appeals to more hardcore players, Arc Raiders stands out as a game with decent casual appeal. It's not easy - not by any stretch - but there's a good chance you may never encounter another player, and sometimes, they're even friendly. I remember on one of my early adventures out to the surface when I encountered someone powered up to the max. Not only did they not kill me, but they actually helped me to deal with some of the tougher ARC enemies. This was done with no voice chat from either side - some people are just that nice.

With Arc Raiders being a huge success, there have been few deals for it - maybe the occasional small sale at other key retailers. However, for a limited time, you can grab the game for just $26.79 / £20.76 at Fanatical, a 33% discount on the usual price and the cheapest it has ever been. You don't have long to grab this offer, as this star deal ends on Thursday, April 9, at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST.

Hopefully, I'll see you out on the surface soon, and maybe we can be friends. So long as you don't randomly kill me and steal all my stuff, I'm sure we're going to have a great time playing together.
