JetBlue adds Apple AirTag luggage tracking

If you have an AirTag stashed in your luggage, JetBlue will now be able to use your tracking data to find your bags if they go missing.

The airline announced Monday they are integrating the iOS 18 Share Item Location feature that will allow customers to track their luggage. Customers will be able to use the Find My feature on their iPhones to securely share with JetBlue the location of the AirTag stashed in their luggage should it go missing. The integration was confirmed alongside the launch of a new JetBlue app that provides real-time updates on the status of their checked bags.

"This new in-app bag tracking feature, along with AirTag location sharing for baggage recovery, are designed to bring customers peace of mind when checking their bags with JetBlue,” said Carol Clements, JetBlue’s chief digital and technology officer.

The Share Item Location feature was added as part of iOS 18.2 in November 2024. In addition to AirTags, accessories that utilize Find My network features can be used to share luggage tracking data with JetBlue, the release states.

  • In your Find My app, which is accessible via iPhone, iPad or Mac, generate a Share Item Location link.

  • Provide the link to JetBlue by either scanning a QR code in the baggage claim are or providing the information to a crewmember at the Baggage Service Office, the release states.

JetBlue says access its access to the AirTags ends once customers have received their missing luggage.
