Before Lies of P's twisted take on the classic tale of Pinocchio took the soulslike genre by storm, Steelrising was an interesting attempt at offering a steampunk-style soulslike. Set in an alternative version of the French Revolution, King Louis XVI has created an unstoppable army of automatons, but as Aegis, you have the opportunity to fight back and uncover why the king has turned into a ruthless leader. Now, you can grab Steelrising's Bastille Edition for under $3 if you're fast.

While it may not be the best soulslike game around, Steelrising is undoubtedly a solid action RPG. Its combat can be a little clunky at times, but the atmosphere is impeccable, and it's hard not to compare it to the spectacular world of Lies of P, even if Steelrising came before it.

Much like the best RPGs, Steelrising's world is a true character, with the dimly lit streets hiding dangerous robots, while the sun shines down on a deserted village, destroyed and damaged beyond habitability. Any enemy can be devastating if you're underprepared or impatient, setting you back to the last checkpoint and giving you the chance to try again.

Despite the difficulty and steep learning curve, the protagonist's agility gives you some leeway, as you use your weapons to dive and weave through enemy groups. Over time, you'll grow more powerful, upgrading yourself as you go to take on increasingly daunting bosses.

It's a solid game, one that is certainly underloved compared to the rest of the genre, but you can see for yourself with this Star Deal. Right now, you can grab Steelrising's Bastille Edition for just $2.99 / £2.24 on Fanatical, but you only have until Tuesday, July 22, at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 4 PM BST to grab this deal, so be quick. That's a huge 95% off the retail price, and easily the game's lowest ever price.

The Bastille Edition is actually over $30 cheaper than the standard game right now, and it comes with the Cagliostro's Secrets expansion, giving you a new area to explore as well as more weapons to try out.

If you find yourself enjoying Steelrising, there are plenty of new soulslikes on the horizon, which you can see in our upcoming PC games list. One is even arriving soon, with Wuchang: Fallen Feathers attempting to join our best action games list.
