Trader Joe's Mini Pastel Totes Sold Out in Minutes Last Year—Here's How to Prepare for the Restock

This spring, your local Trader Joe’s is about to be busier than ever. If you stop by the retailer on a sunny April morning to do some shopping, don’t be surprised if there’s a huge line out the door. That just means a new release of Trader Joe’s Mini Canvas Tote Bags has arrived.

Pastel Mini Tote Bags Are Back for Spring

Trader Joe’s will be bringing back its (arguably) most popular iteration of tiny totes: the Pastel Mini Canvas Tote Bags. According to the Trader Joe's website, the series of pastel shades will return at the beginning of spring, for a limited time.

The totes will come in the same colors as when they first launched in 2025: pastel pink, blue, purple, and green. Each tote comes with the Trader Joe’s logo embroidered in one of these four spring colors. 

Using the Mini Totes

These miniature totes are 13 inches long and 11 inches tall. They’re about the size of a personal lunch bag, or a medium-sized purse; if you’re the kind of person who likes to grocery shop one meal at a time, these mini totes are perfect for smaller shopping trips. 

Those who purchased the totes last year have also had tons of fun customizing them with matching pastel embroidery, beading, and patches. Adding a few embroidered spring flowers or beaded pearl accents is such a fun way to personalize these bags. Crafty customers have even experimented with swapping out the logo’s thread colors. 

If you’re someone who wasn’t able to snag a tote for yourself in 2025, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Customers who weren’t able to get a pastel-colored tote last year are over the moon about having another shot at these adorable little bags. But when should you expect them to return?

When Trader Joe’s Might Release Its Mini Totes

Last year, Trader Joe’s Pastel Mini Canvas Totes dropped during the first full week of April, about two weeks before Easter. It’s likely we’ll see a similar release schedule this year. Although the retailer hasn’t yet been able to confirm an exact launch date, we’re sure that Trader Joe’s will be dropping these bags before Easter arrives, so that you can fill them up with candies and treats for the holiday. 

Thanks to the trendy colors, these pastel mini totes sold out faster than ever last year. Most stores saw them disappear just a few minutes after opening, so it’s a good idea to line up before the store opens if you want to get your hands on some.

Get One Before They’re Gone

Most Trader Joe’s stores will limit every household to four bags total. Some will let you choose your preferred pastel colors, while others will offer one of each. Each Trader Joe’s store is able to set their purchasing limits differently, so some stores may have no restrictions on how many totes you can purchase. 

Totes will be available as soon as your Trader Joe’s store opens on the launch day. Many stores will hold back a portion of their stock, so that they can have drops in the afternoon and evening—just in case you aren’t able to make it to the morning release. You can always call ahead of time to see how your Trader Joe’s plans to handle the mini tote drop.
