I'm bad at soulslikes. There, I said it. While I often love their aesthetics, I consistently find myself bouncing off the likes of Bloodborne and Elden Ring simply because I go through phases of doing incredibly well before getting absolutely obliterated. Yet I keep going back to them. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's endgame is my current conquest - I'm determined to defeat Simon, the same way I was determined to defeat the Nameless Puppet when I reviewed Lies of P. As much as I lose the plot, for whatever reason getting my ass handed to me is just too much fun, and that's why, when Lies of P Overture shadow dropped at Summer Game Fest, I felt myself sigh, strap on my metallic arm, and get ready to return to Krat.
In case you weren't aware, Lies of P Overture shadow dropped during Summer Game Fest (surprise!) and is out on Steam right now. Sending the soulslike's player count into the stratosphere, it's proven even tougher than the base game.
Positioned as a prequel to the events of Lies of P, Overture sends us back to the moment the infamous Puppet Frenzy began. P, our Pinocchio-inspired protagonist who bears a striking resemblance to Timothée Chalamet, uncovers an unusual Stargazer that sends him hurtling into Krat's past, where he follows in the footsteps of the legendary Stalker Lea Florence Monad, who vanished before the massacre began.
Expect to face more puppet-like bosses and eerie steampunk machines, as well as the inhabitants of this early version of the game's iconic Belle Époque city. Sharpen your blade and get ready to dodge: Krat's finest don't take prisoners.
Lies of P Overture is available on Steam right now for $29.99 / £24.99, but if you enter your details below, you can possibly grab yourself a free code as part of our giveaway. There are ten Lies of P Overture Steam codes up for grabs, but please note that you will need to own the base game to play.
