Routine locker puzzle solution
Routine locker puzzle solution
How do you solve the locker puzzle in Routine? Before you can access the innermost areas of the Ward, you need to track down James Mason's ID to upgrade your security clearance level. There's just one problem: Mason has locked himself in the Vestibule, and you need a four-digit code to unlock it.
Kali's locker has all the clues you need to solve this puzzle, but Mason's code diagram isn't easy to crack. Between the polaroids, symbols, and numbers, we found this to be the hardest puzzle in Routine - and that's before you take into account the entity stalking the halls. If you're completely stuck, here's how to solve the locker puzzle and proceed through to the Vestibule in no time.

The solution to the locker puzzle is 5883. Enter this four-digit code into the keypad sitting in the bathroom sink to open the Vestibule.
You can find Kali's locker in Systems, and the code to open it is 5011. This code appears in the Archive terminal diary entry, which you can only access once you reboot the system.

Open Kali's locker to inspect Mason's code diagram and four polaroids. The diagram is double-sided, and the numbers on the back correspond to the symbols on the front. This creates a mirrored layout, meaning the first symbol in each row corresponds to the last number in the same row on the opposite side.
Now that you understand Mason's cipher, it's time to find the symbols. Go to each location in the polaroids and use the Ultraview CAT module to view them.

The puzzle locations are:
- On the wall to the right of the Vestibule keypad in the bathroom sink.
- Above the ropes hanging to the right of the Server room door.
- On the trunk of the tree in the main lobby.
- On the wall to the right of the window in Reception.
Now that you have the symbols, it's just a case of putting them in the correct order. There is one symbol in each column on the code diagram, and the note at the top of the sheet says to read them from left to right. Therefore, the correct order is cross, swirl, line, and semi-circle, and the corresponding numbers are 5883.
Return to Systems and enter the code into the keypad in the bathroom sink. If you've taken all these steps, be aware that the entity will patrol around this vicinity, so remain cautious and be prepared to run. If you need a surefire escape, crawl through the tunnel next to the Archive terminal and save point to stay out of its reach.
Now that you've solved the locker puzzle and cracked Mason's code, head through to the Vestibule and begin the alignment process to drain the Basin and reach Mason's ID. As you head into the remaining Routine missions, be prepared for the Routine EL9 solution coming up - it's not quite as difficult as the locker puzzle, but it can still give you trouble.
