Escape From Tarkov boss spawns reduced as reception to hardcore wipe stays mixed

Battlestate Games is reducing the boss spawn rates across the Escape From Tarkov hardcore wipe. Until now, they would have a 100% chance of spawning across every location in the FPS, but it's now been dropped significantly. This comes as player reception to the last wipe ahead of Tarkov 1.0 has been all over the place, with some players assuming boss rates will go back to where they used to be in no time.

So far, players are mixed on the hardcore wipe. Some absolutely love the changes and overall difficulty spike, while others are struggling to find nearly as much success as they would with any other Escape From Tarkov reset. Battlestate Games is making EFT way harder and more challenging than normal, with a slate of "wave-like" alterations coming throughout the wipe itself.

When Battlestate Games was detailing the wipe, it said we'd have a 100% boss spawn chance on all locations, giving you a much better shot at taking out the toughest opponents across one of the best FPS games on PC. That's now changed, however, as BSG sets the spawn rate of bosses down to 70%, dropping it by nearly a third.

This change, like the hardcore wipe itself, appears to have split Tarkov's playerbase. Having a 100% boss spawn rate meant it was incredibly easy for experienced players to acquire gear in the early wipe by squadding up and farming someone like Tagilla on repeat. Dropping the percentage chance now also means anyone who didn't farm is at a massive disadvantage.

It's unclear if Battlestate Games will continue reducing the boss spawn rates in the lead up to the Escape From Tarkov 1.0 and Steam release date, but it's a concern raised by players in the subreddit. Boss spawn rates aren't the only thing that's been impacted, though. Alongside the change, Battlestate Games has also made Woods available for selection, giving you another raid location to loot.
