Trader Joe’s tote bags have been taking shoppers by storm in recent years. There have been miniature Halloween tote bags, Easter-inspired pastel bags, and even miniature coolers, with each mini tote option selling out within hours (and sometimes minutes). But now, you can enjoy your favorite Trader Joe’s tote in its most scaled-down rendition yet.

The retailer’s new Canvas Micro Tote Bags ($3) might not be able to hold much more than a tube of Chapstick, but they’re not just a gag gift. Hiding inside each teeny tote is a full-size, reusable grocery bag in a matching color. There are three different versions of the micro tote: green, red, and blue, all of which come with the Trader Joe’s logo printed in red.

What to Use Your Micro Tote Bag For

The Trader Joe's Micro Totes make the perfect holiday stocking stuffer—and many fans are even using the itty-bitty tote bags as tree ornaments. “Perfect to hang on my Christmas tree!” says one comment on a viral post about the new bags.

Though small, these totes are fully functional, with a working zipper that opens and closes, and tiny handles you can fit a finger through. So what can fit inside? Use them as a coin purse, lip gloss holder, or wallet. Or put them to use storing gift cards, car keys, hand sanitizer, or earbuds (just not all at once.)

Once you’ve opened your micro tote and pulled out the full-size reusable bag, it’s not difficult to fit it back inside again. The reusable grocery bags are designed to fold easily to be stashed away, so if you like storing reusable grocery bags inside your car but hate wasting valuable trunk space, you might want to keep these mini totes around for their original purpose.

How to Get Your Own Canvas Micro Tote

Like past Trader Joe’s tote bags, the micro totes have already become an internet celebrity. Their viral status means they were quick to sell out at some locations—but it seems that there may be more totes to go around than a typical tote bag launch. Some customers reported seeing no lines, while others said that they were still able to get their hands on a micro tote long after the launch.

The micro totes first launched on Nov. 11 for $2.99, and while your local TJ’s might still have some in stock, they’re not likely to stick around very long. Some stores have set limits on how many of these bags you can buy at once, so check to make sure you’re not over the limit before you head to the register.
