Superhero smash-hit Dispatch "changed my life," musician Bershy reveals after streams of her song Radio hit the stratosphere overnight
Bershy, the artist behind a key song featured in smash-hit narrative adventure superhero game Dispatch, says that the game and its studio "just changed my life." It comes after plays of her song Radio quadrupled in just one week. And, in a heartwarming interaction on Instragram, Dispatch studio AdHoc shared just how long ago they hatched a plan to include it in the game.
In a reflective post on Instagram under the handle 'thebershy,' the musician (real name Brea Shay) claims that "I didn't really think I'd make music again" just two weeks ago - well after the first four chapters of the episodic strategy game Dispatch hit Steam.
Now, with the final four episodes out in the open, one of which briefly features her song Radio, everything has changed for Bershy, who went on to say that "Radio just passed 4.5 million streams. Numbers feel weird, but hearing that my song made any kind of impact… that's fucking cool."

It was only one week ago that Bershy made a post thanking people for getting the track to one million plays, so she's understandably surprised to see the number quadruple in that same chunk of time.
I won't get too into the weeds of how and why Bershy's song is finally finding an audience. After all, I haven't managed to find the time to play Dispatch despite it being very much on my radar since the reveal trailer at the 2024 Golden Geoffs (Ahem… The Game Awards). But I'm well-versed enough in movies and narrative games to know how the right song can perfectly punctuate a scene late into a story you're completely enamoured by.
Its inclusion in one of the most talked-about games of the year is one thing, but you only need to hear it once, even without the context, to know that it's a vibe, and one that clearly struck a chord with the playerbase. One such fan said in response to Bershy's post, "Who would have thought that song from a dance scene in a video game would ever make me feel genuine happiness," while others gleefully proclaim how happy they are to see the song, and the artist, of course, "getting the recognition you deserve" after first hearing the song "3 years ago from a TikTok."
And it isn't just the fans jumping in to give Bershy a big ol' virtual hug. Dispatch studio Adhoc hopped into the replies, not only to shower her with the very same affirmations of "getting the love you deserve" but to reveal that "Radio has been on our internal project playlist since it came out." Turns out someone on the team was in the same boat as those who heard it on October 11, 2022.
You can even spot the team fortelling her upcoming success on the original video posted to her YouTube channel - which still only has under 1,000 subscribers. Time to fix that.
