Total War Warhammer 3 opens new siege beta, but you need to join quickly

We've likely got a bit of a wait for Total War Warhammer 3's Tides of Torment DLC after Creative Assembly delayed it earlier this year, but there is a silver lining. A new siege rework beta is now open, letting you test out some changes and offer CA a little feedback. But you better be quick if you want to take part, as the beta is open for a limited time only.

Open to all players who own Total War Warhammer 3, the Siege Proving Grounds beta is set to run until August 7, and is part of Creative Assembly's contined efforts to improve what we reckon is now one of the best Warhammer games out there. The beta lets you see some of the siege reworks, which range from tweaks to siege equipment to defensive structures, before they hit the full game.

Writing on Steam, CA says, "This is your chance to get hands-on with the changes, share your feedback with us, and help shape the future of siege warfare." We're yet to see a confirmed release date for the delayed Tides of Torment, so this might have to tide us over for now.

The aim of the beta is to make "sieges more fun," with major improvements focused on the removal of pocket ladders, tweaking the battle AI, and rebalancing siege equipment and other defensive structures, like siege towers and battering rams. CA previously said this beta would be "just the first steps for us to get sieges where we want them to be."

If you're planning to play the beta, it's worth noting that High Elf Gates and Empire Forts do not require siege equipment to be besieged, so you'll need to field artillery or other means of breaking down walls. CA has confirmed that it will address the issue in a future update.

The beta is only available for a couple of weeks, so you'll need to get in fast if you want to give CA some feedback.
