How to get double jump in The Outer Worlds 2

How do you get double jump in The Outer Worlds 2? Usually reserved for platformers and puzzle games, a double jump ability is always a useful early-game upgrade. In The Outer Worlds 2, however, you may miss the option to get it if you don't complete a particular side quest.

As you'd expect, it helps you reach tricky to reach parts of whatever Outer Worlds 2 planet you're currently on. It's not something you'll find in the Outer Worlds 2 skills list or among the Outer Worlds 2 traits, but it's worth getting for your adventurer as soon as you can.

Rather than being a skill you unlock, the double jump ability is actually a pair of boots you find during a side quest. The boosts in question are called P.A.L.E.

If you just mainline the story, you'll probably never stumble across them. You find them as part of the For Whom The Bridge Tolls side quest, as you try and get access to the Vox Relay.

You'll be informed that Ida Rutledge is hiding in the Spire Grove, which is in the southwest of the first planet you explore. You can check the map above for the exact location.

Once you're up to the top of the hill, via the elevator or by climbing, you'll see a body fly from the platform above. You'll then meet some new NPCs and be given another side quest, called A Final Death For Gravity.

If you loot the body that's hit the ground, you'll be able to grab the P.A.L.E boots and start using double jump. They don't need to be equipped; you just need to press the jump button a second time whenever you want to reach somewhere that was previously inaccessible.
