Can you play Skate on the Steam Deck?
The early access window for Skate is finally here, but if you're hoping to play on Valve's hugely popular gaming handheld, we've got some bad news. The Skate Steam Deck rating might not yet be confirmed, but developer Full Circle has already made a statement on its compatibility.
While the Skate system requirements suggest that the game could run on the core hardware in our current best gaming handheld pick, an issue that impacts most EA-published games is rearing its ugly head again in he form of EA's anti-cheat tech. While this is bad news for Steam Deck gamers, owners of Windows-based gaming handhelds are in the clear.
Is Skate Steam Deck compatible?
Skate is Unsupported on the Steam Deck due to the game not supporting the Linux operating system. Despite this outright incompatibility, the game rating is still listed as "unknown," but we expect this status to change shortly after the early access window opens.
Like most other EA titles, including Apex Legends, EA Sports FC, and the F1 series, Skate will deploy EA anti-cheat tech, which doesn't work on Linux.
However, this means that if you're playing on a handheld such as the ROG Ally X, or any Windows-based portable that can meet the system requirements, you should have no issue playing Skate.
While you won't be able to play Skate on the Deck, we have got a list of the best Steam Deck games you can play right now. Elsewhere, we also have a guide to the best Steam Deck accessories, should you be in need of a new dock, extra storage space, or any other gear for your handheld.
