Family Found Bundle of Fur in Front of House, Only to Discover It was a Kitten with the Spirit of a Big Cat
A family found a tiny ball of fur in front of their house, only to discover it was a kitten with the spirit of a big cat. ReglissChatonsOrphelinsMontrealEarlier this month, a family heard the faint cries of a small animal outside their home. Following the sound, they discovered a little bundle of fur by their front door.To their surprise, it was a palm-sized kitten, all alone. Thinking his mother might be nearby, they searched the area and eventually spotted her. Hoping she would return for the kitten, they left him where he was.Despite his desperate cries, the mother cat never approached. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealAfter waiting 24 hours with no interest from the mother, the family gently scooped up the kitten and brought him inside. They noticed his eyes were crusted shut and that he desperately needed help."His mother must have left him because he was sick," Celine of Chatons Orphelins Montreal, an all-volunteer rescue, shared with Love Meow. "They cared for him overnight, then drove an hour to bring him to us so he would have every chance to survive." ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealAt barely three weeks old, the kitten, Regliss, weighed only 227 grams, much smaller than kittens his age. "You could feel his bones; it was clear he hadn't been fed for some time."Yet despite his frail body, Regliss had the fighting spirit of a panther. From the start, he refused to give up, crying loudly until he was fed from a bottle. "He was hungry. He wanted to live." ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealFor the first time in his young life, he slept with a full belly, safe and loved.Celine bottle-fed Regliss around the clock, carrying him everywhere to keep up with his demands and needs. He began gaining weight, his legs grew stronger, and his cries softened into contented purrs. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealWhen he was strong enough for a bath, Celine cleaned off the flea dirt hidden in his fur. After a gentle wash, she wrapped him in a warm towel, where he quickly drifted off, cozy like a little "purrito."He soon bonded with his foster mom and traveled with her in his own cat-mobile. When he napped, he had a plush friend to keep him company. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealMarscha, the resident super senior cat, soon stepped in to offer a helping paw. Having fostered many kittens, she seemed to know just what Regliss needed. She allowed him to snuggle into her fur, giving him the warmth and comfort of a mother cat."He has taken to the bottle well and has gained more than 10 grams each day since his arrival." Regliss and MarschaChatonsOrphelinsMontrealWith a hearty appetite, Regliss now eats like a champion, as if making up for lost time. After each meal, he happily rolls onto his back, inviting belly rubs. He clasps his tiny paws around his foster mom's hand like a big hug.Small in size but mighty in spirit, he embodies the soul of a mini panther. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealNow at four weeks old, Regliss has blossomed into a spirited little kitten with endless curiosity and a love for all things soft. He sinks into his plush bed, melting into a puddle of fur before drifting off to sleep. He always stays close to his foster mom and never naps without a plush friend by his side. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealThanks to the kindness of the family who found him, Regliss' life has forever changed. With a caring senior cat to guide him and a dedicated foster mom who caters to his needs, the once-forgotten kitten is now thriving. He may still be small, but within him beats the fearless heart of a mighty house panther.
