Two Cats with 11 Kittens Found in Underground Tunnels Now Have New Start in Life
Two cats and their eleven kittens found in underground tunnels now have a new start in life. EllenRichterA homeless man living in the tunnels beneath the bright lights of Las Vegas had taken in two young cats, doing everything he could to care for them. One of the cats had given birth to five kittens, and the other was still expecting. He did his best to keep them safe and fed, with whatever resources he could find. "He loved them deeply, but he knew he couldn't give them the life they deserved," Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions shared."In a moment of courage and compassion, he reached out for help." Lucy LooEllenRichterA compassionate woman, who had spent over two decades helping community cats and building trust with underserved and homeless cat lovers, received a plea from the man. She took in the cats and contacted Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions for help.By then, both cats had brought their kittens into the world, and they were in desperate need of a foster home. Little RooEllenRichter"We didn't hesitate. Together, we brought the little familytwo young mother cats and eleven kittensout of the darkness and into the light."Ellen Richter, a foster volunteer, opened her home to the thirteen precious lives. For the first time, they had a comfortable room of their own, with plenty of soft blankets, boundless food, and everything the kittens needed to grow healthy and strong. Little Roo's kittensEllenRichter"They're now safe, warm, and loved in foster care. They're growing stronger every day, playful, and purring, completely unaware of how close they came to a life of suffering. These cats would never have had a chance without that one man's love."At just eight months old, the feline sisters, Little Roo (tabby) and Lucy Loo (black-and-white), were still kittens themselves. Lucy Loo and her kittensEllenRichterWhen they arrived, Little Roo's five kittens were around five weeks old, whereas Lucy Loo's six kittens were about two weeks old.Among the six kittens lay a little white one, surrounded by her five adorable tuxedo siblings. Lucy would lie with them and lovingly chat with her foster mom, as if sharing her life story. Lucy Loo's kittensEllenRichterFrom day one, Little Roo's kittens kept their mom on her toes. They waddled around with curiosity, exploring every nook and cranny. With unbridled energy, they played and wrestled with anything they could get their paws on.Rolling around like little tumbleweeds, they were having the time of their lives. Little Roo's kittensEllenRichterWithin a few days in foster care, some of Little Roo's kittens reached a new milestone: eating from a dish for the first time. Little Roo was thrilled to be indoors and would curl up beside her foster mom whenever she entered the room. She's starting to take more breaks from her kittens, basking in all the attention and love. EllenRichterLucy Loo is a wonderful mother to her bundle of six, catering to their every whim."Her kittens are 17 days old, and their eyes are open, and they're starting to crawl. She's very attentive and rarely leaves their side. When I sit with her, she climbs into my lap for cuddles and gives me kisses." EllenRichterThanks to many kind-hearted individuals, this beautiful family of thirteen cats is flourishing in foster care.Once they've finished raising their final litters, the two sisters will find their forever homes, where they can enjoy being the center of attention they deserve.
