Video games have generally revolved around conflict. Now, what constitutes a "conflict" certainly varies. It could be Solid Snake attempting to thwart the evil plans of his genetic twin, Liquid Snake, and his army of super-soldiers. Or it could be two individual players sending tiny monsters as proxies in a battle for what is, let's not mince words here, their own personal amusement. Especially in the action and/or adventure genres, players will take the role of a hero and confront a villain.
