There are hardly any genres that truly represent the culture of gaming quite like a good platformer, RPG, and Metroidvania. You can't talk about video games to strangers without bringing up characters like Mario, Sonic, and Cloud. If you asked me though, I'd say Metroidvanias represent what we like about this hobby the most.
