Visa Launches Cyber Threat Platform to Combat Fraud
Advertisement Visa Launches Cyber Threat Platform to Combat FraudNew solution combines cyber and payment intelligence to help financial institutions detect threats before they become costly fraud incidents.Visa has launched the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform (VTIP), a new cybersecurity solution designed to help financial institutions identify cyber threats earlier and prevent fraud before it occurs. The platform brings together cyber threat intelligence and payments intelligence, enabling banks and other financial institutions to detect risks linked to compromised payment credentials, phishing attacks and system vulnerabilities before they result in financial losses.Bridging the Gap Between Cybersecurity and Fraud PreventionVisa says fraud often begins long before an unauthorized transaction takes place.Cyberattacks targeting merchants, issuers, acquirers, processors and other payment service providers can expose payment credentials that are later sold or misused, leading to fraud and operational disruption.According to Walter Lironi, Senior Vice President and Head of Value-Added Services for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) at Visa, financial institutions need earlier visibility into these threats.Cyberattacks are becoming more frequent, more targeted and more difficult for organizations to detect early. Too often, fraud is the result, said Lironi. The Visa Threat Intelligence Platform helps financial institutions see those threats sooner by bringing together cyber and payments intelligence in one place, giving them clearer, more actionable insight to reduce risk before it turns into fraud.Built on Visas Global Cybersecurity ExpertiseVisa developed VTIP using the same cybersecurity capabilities it relies on to protect its global payments network. The company says it blocks approximately 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing emails every month across more than 200 countries. Before launching the platform commercially, Visa tested it internally against real-world cyber threats, allowing the company to validate its effectiveness before making it available to clients.Helping Financial Institutions Respond FasterVisa designed VTIP specifically for banks, fraud teams and cybersecurity professionals. The platform combines multiple intelligence capabilities to help organizations identify, assess and respond to threats more effectively. Its features include:Threat Intelligence to identify malware and cyber threats targeting the financial sector.Vulnerability Intelligence to detect security weaknesses relevant to each institution.Brand Intelligence to monitor and mitigate brand impersonation and online abuse.Digital Identity Intelligence to protect executives and employees from cyber targeting.Financial Intelligence to identify compromised payment credentials circulating on the dark web and enrich them with VisaNet insights for faster fraud detection.By integrating cyber and fraud intelligence into one platform, Visa aims to help institutions reduce fraud losses while improving their overall cyber resilience.Visa Launches Cyber Threat Platform to Combat FraudStrengthening Trust in Digital PaymentsVisa continues to expand its investment in payment security as cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated. The company has invested more than USD 13 billion in technology over the past five years to strengthen network security, reduce fraud and enhance the resilience of digital payments.According to Visa, Gartner Consulting also awarded the company its highest cybersecurity maturity rating of 4.9, reflecting the strength of its cybersecurity programme. With the launch of the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform, Visa says it is extending its internal cybersecurity expertise to financial institutions, helping them detect cyber threats earlier, strengthen fraud prevention and build greater trust across the global payments ecosystem. The post Visa Launches Cyber Threat Platform to Combat Fraud appeared first on Africa Business News.
