It's an open-world world, we're all just living in it. That sentence may sound a bit stupid, but it's true. Ever since video games were first made, we have been always trying to make these interactive experiences more lived-in and livable. A breathing world is always the high point of immersion. Over the years, games like Grand Theft Auto and Assassin's Creedhave been pushing us closer to that point. I feel like the must-plays of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Elden Ringhave caused an open-world boom we're still feeling today.
