Fresh lemonade is a must for summer and this Kentucky Bourbon Lemonade is something I look forward to making when the dog days of summer arrive. This grown-up version of lemonade is so cool and refreshing and the bourbon totally enhances and complements the flavor of the lemons. Plus it’s super easy to make. My paternal grandfather was from Louisville, Kentucky and he grew mint in his yard to use for Mint Juleps. Whenever I drink a bourbon cocktail, it reminds me of him. You will need some for the simple syrup and to garnish the glasses. Fresh Lemon Juice Bourbon Ginger Ale or Sprite Type of Bourbon To Use Since you are mixing the bourbon with other flavors, you don’t need to use an expensive bourbon, but you do want a good quality bourbon. I typically use Maker’s Mark, but Four Roses and Woodford Reserve are great options as well. This recipe makes a pitcher full which you can pour into individual glasses.
