Wobbly Kitten Overlooked by Everyone Turns Out to Have the Most Unforgettable Personality of All
A small orange, wobbly kitten was overlooked by everyone. The kitten turns out to have the most unforgettable personality of all. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoQuakes was part of a litter born to a stray cat that a kind-hearted landlord had been looking after. When the time came to find the kittens' homes, all of his siblings found their way to loving families without much trouble. Quakes, however, was a bit different. The landlord recognized he had needs he wasnt equipped to meet, and so he brought them to the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC). When the ACC reached out to Hannah at Whiskers-A-Go-Go about Quakes needing a foster, she didnt hesitate. Within no time, Quakes had a foster home, a name, and the beginning of a heart-warming story. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoQuakes has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, CH for short, and affectionately known as Wobbly Cat Syndrome. The condition affects his balance and coordination, particularly in his back legs, making him look like a tiny sailor navigating a gentle but permanent storm. He wobbles. He staggers. This does not deter him from being the fun-loving kitten that he is. Each day he gets stronger and stronger with the help of his dedicated foster, Hannah. I laugh at the idea that his little stomps register a 7.9 on the Richter scale. said Hannah Gregg, Whiskers-A-Go-Go. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoThats how he earned his name: Quakes. Because despite his small size, every room he enters knows hes there. He doesnt move through the world so much as he makes his presence felt in it. Four tiny, determined paws at a time. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoQuakes seems entirely unbothered by the hand hes been dealt. He doesnt dwell on what he cant do. Hes far too busy with what he can, and the list is growing every day. Starting with his favorite sparkle ball. He will chase it, catch it, and parade around with it clamped proudly in his teeth as he has just conquered something magnificent. Crinkle toys, bouncy balls, fuzzy rattling mice, and watching birds, he is an enthusiast of all of them. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoHis latest achievement, and the one his foster mentions with barely concealed delight, is getting himself into the bathtub. By himself. With his sparkle ball. He made the jump, he made it stick, and then celebrated with the toy hed been planning to bring in all along. For a kitten working hard against the health challenges hes been given, that bathtub might as well be Everest. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoQuakes is brave, but he is also learning. Strangers startle him. A hand reaching toward him without warning can send him bolting into another room. Hes working on it, slowly and on his own timeline. Slow and deliberate, and giving him time to decide its okay, the spook passes. The purring arrives, and hes in your lap. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoQuakes will do beautifully with a person or family who will take the time to introduce him to new people slowly, who will keep a rug under his feet to prevent slipping, and his food bowl elevated so he can eat with comfort. Hell need someone who notices when hes hiding and gently calls him back out into the light. Credit: Whiskers-A-GoGoQuake didn't need to be rescued from his wobble. He just needed someone who sees him clearly, a small orange kitten with a tremendous heart and a walk that suggests he owns every floor he crosses.Share this story with your friends.
