The oatmeal is especially soothing for cats with irritated or sensitive skin.For a dry shampoo blend, combine half a cup of finely ground oatmeal with half a cup of cornmeal and two tablespoons of cornstarch. Sprinkle it over your cats coat, avoiding the face, rub it in, and let it sit for five minutes before brushing out. This wont handle stubborn stains or oily residue, but for a general refresh, it does the job.The Bottom LineA cat-specific shampoo is always the best option when you have it. But most cats dont need frequent baths, and the times you actually need to wash one dont always line up with a fully stocked supply cabinet.
