Amongst the major contenders of the fifth console generation, including the Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and Nintendo 64, it was only the Nintendo 64 that had four controller ports built in natively. This, at least in my experience, made the console a favored choice for those who liked multiplayer games, as you didnt need an extra peripheral like a multitap. There was no shortage of excellent multiplayer games on the N64, though if we narrow further to just co-op, the list shrinks a bit.
