Desert SandsCoastal Bend Cat RescueIn a quiet rural town, a lone cat with fur the color of buff sand wandered up to a family's doorstep, looking for a safe haven. When the homeowner found the cat, they were surprised to see that she had turned their front porch into a nursery for her newborn kittens. Unsure of the best way to help, they contacted Coastal Bend Cat Rescue (CBCR) for assistance. The mother cat, Desert Sands, had five perfect little kittens in all different shades of orange. Coastal Bend Cat RescueWhile the rescue waited for a foster home to become available, the finders turned their garage into a temporary sanctuary, ensuring the mother and her kittens were secure, comfortable, and well-cared for.As soon as a space opened up, the rescue warmly welcomed the entire family into their care. Coastal Bend Cat Rescue"Mama was not very happy with the ride to her foster house, but the minutes she got out of the carrier and saw her babies in a nice comfy bed with a big bowl of food and water, she was full of love for her foster mom," Mary Huckabee, CBCR officer, shared with Love Meow.Under the mom's watch, the kittens grew healthy and plump, a testament to her constant care and love. Coastal Bend Cat RescueDesert Sands soon discovered how wonderful gentle scritches could be, rewarding every stroke with her delightful gravelly meows. Now settled indoors, she truly blossomed, no longer burdened by worries of finding food and shelter. "She loves pets and wants to be the center of attention all the time. She would rather get pets than eat, even if it's good food." Coastal Bend Cat RescueAs soon as the kittens opened their eyes, they wriggled around their nest, eager to explore, even though they hadn't quite found their footing. They often ended up rolling onto their backs, flailing their tiny legs in the air like roly-polies."Kalahari, Sahara, and Sonoran are three little orange girls that are too sweet for words. Mojave and Gobi are the two boys destined to be troublemakers." Coastal Bend Cat RescueOnce they mastered their wobbly steps, they bravely set out from their nest. Their curious noses led them on a hunt for mischief, all while leaving a trail of purrs in their wake. "The orange cat energy in their foster house is about to be through the roof.""They are loving life in their foster oasis, and we are loving gazing at the gorgeous desert hues." Coastal Bend Cat RescueAt four weeks old, the kittens are fearless little adventurers, daring to jump, climb, and tackle anything that moves. They tumble with each other, all boisterous energy and not a brain cell behind those sweet, doe eyes.As the little ones dive into their new world, their mom savors the peaceful moments with her humans, basking in all the love and attention. Coastal Bend Cat RescueLike a queen caring for her little royals, she's a wonderfully loving mother. As her kittens begin to wean, she'll finally have more time to focus on her own needs, and nothing brings her more joy than being doted on by her adoring humans."She's taking such good care of her babies (her final litter), but she'll leave them in a heartbeat for scritches." Coastal Bend Cat RescueThe sweet mama chose the right home to bring her kittens into the world, and now they are thriving in foster care, enjoying every moment to the fullest.
