The PlayStation 2 was the last PlayStation console to be tied down to just two physical controller ports, multitaps notwithstanding, before the PS3 switched to wireless inputs. While I didnt personally know anyone who owned a multitap, remarkably, that didnt really hinder the PS2s capability as a viable console for couch co-op. Yeah, maybe you had to do some controller trading sometimes, but the strength of the consoles game library made it a worthwhile endeavor.
