Racing games have often felt to me like one of those genres that cant really cross over much with others. A race is a race; you start at a starting line, go around a few times, then cross the same line again (or a different line at the end). In spite of that, theres been a small, yet noticeable trend of racing games crossing into new territory in the last few years, specifically into that of open world games.
