Fighting games, as a genre, have been around for decades, bringing people into arcades by the bucketfull to see the latest characters and combos. Of course, as with any genre of game, not every game can safely weather the passage of the ages. More than a few top-shelf fighting games have sadly been lost to the tides of time, barring perhaps the occasional cameo in another of the same publishers games or a token legacy collection.
