In a traditional narrative, the heroic protagonist comes out over the villainous antagonist once everything is done and dusted. The big laser gun is disarmed, the bad guy is dead or arrested, snappy one-liner, roll credits. While thats the traditional way to close things out, though, its certainly not the only way. After all, when a tradition becomes deeply entrenched, its a given that sooner or later, expectations will be subverted.
