Cat Takes in a Kitten Who is Bigger Than Her Own, Turns Out the Little Guy Has So Much to Give
A cat took in a kitten who was bigger than her own, and it turned out the little guy had so much to give. Simon SaysTails HighDuring a weekend TNR (trap-neuter-return) effort to help nearly 30 community cats, volunteers from Tails High stumbled upon a feline family in need.Among them was an orange tabby who immediately stood out. He was clearly older and bigger than the other kittens, nestled close to a cat named Recess, who cared for him as if he were her own. "His actual mother was believed to have run off, leaving Recess to welcome him into her family," Tails High shared. But there was something else that made this kitten differenthe couldn't use his hind legs. A cat took him in after his own mother had likely run offTails High"He was obviously bigger, but he couldn't use his back legs. This little family needed some extra support."The team quickly devised a plan for the little tabby, whom they named Simon Says. He needed a foster volunteer with specialized experience, and Ryen didn't hesitate to step up. After hours of coordinating vet appointments and long drives, Simon and his feline family arrived safely in foster care. Tails HighThe vet determined that his paralysis was caused by a spinal injury. But the spirited kitten refused to let that slow him down. "He zooms around happily, uses his litter box, wrestles with the other kittens, and recently discovered a love of television."Though Simon may need a little extra help at times, he never stops amazing people with what he can do. Tails High"From the moment he was rescued, Simon has shown the world what true resilience looks like."Unable to use his hind legs, Simon learned to scoot across the floor, climb onto couches and beds, and play using his strong front legs, balancing with remarkable skill. His determination to play and keep up with the others is unstoppable. He's playful and outgoing and doesn't let anything stop him from having funTails HighHe reminds everyone that "happiness isn't about what you can do, but how fully you choose to live."With the support of Tails High, his veterinarians, and his devoted foster mom, Simon has been given every chance to thrive. Since adding acupuncture therapy to his care routine, his mobility and litter box use have improved tremendously. Tails High"Simon Says to keep smiling. Simon Says to be brave. Simon Says to love everyone you meet. That's exactly how he lives."Always cheerful and outgoing, Simon starts purring the instant he sees his people. He loves every cat he meets, greeting them like lifelong friends and often wrapping his paws around them during nap time. He adores every cat he meetsTails High"He truly believes there's no such thing as strangers, only friends he hasn't met yet. He's adored every feline companion he's encountered."Despite his paralysis, Simon fills every moment with playful energy, turning each room into his personal playground. When playtime ends, he curls up beside a feline buddy or snuggles with his human before drifting off to sleep. Tails HighSimon may move a little differently, but that only makes him more special. He's always eager to be part of the action, scooting over with his purr engine rumbling, ready to "help" however he can."Simon is sweetness without limits, resilience wrapped in orange fur, and the truest reminder that love always finds a way." Tails HighSimon is ready for his forever family. Share this story with your friends. More on Simon Says (in DC) and Tails High on Instagram and Facebook.
