She loves her big garden, even in her old age. Old age also brings with it great challenges: over 2 years ago, feline asthma was diagnosed and a few months later, hyperthyroidism, which was cured in January 2024 with radioiodine therapy. Sometimes the teeth cause problems or the old bones and joints. (Their names are in order from my legs outwards Bart, Lisa, Ollie) Bart & Lisa are litter sisters, so theyve grown up together & been with me since 6 weeks old (May 2022).Ollie, however, I rescued from a farm where a patient of mine was keeping her in a box, only letting her out once a day to eat & use the litter tray. Ollie was about 18 months old when she finally agreed to let me take her, after months of the nursing team begging her to. June 16th 2024, I brought her home, gave her a bath & made her at home in my bathroom. She was scrawny, scared & snotty. 6 months later, shes had her spay, she had a swab taken from up her nose (showing profuse growth), 3 rounds of antibiotics later and youd think shed never been sick! Shes also gained 1kg in weight! So while shes still smaller than the others, I can no longer feel her ribs or spine when I hold or stroke her.
