Two cats survived a pack of dogs that ran through their cat colony, and the two siblings, left with only each other, have stayed side by side ever since. Airy and TaiCredit: FosterCatMomAimeeThey were born outdoors to a community cat in Macon, GA, and for a while the little family had someone in their corner. A colony caretaker kept watch over them, putting out food and keeping an eye on the mother and her kittens.Then a pack of dogs began moving through the neighborhood. In the chaos, Tai and Airy lost their mother and their littermates. The two of them were all that was left.Earlier this year, the caretaker reached out to a rescue, unwilling to leave the surviving pair to face the streets alone. The rescue took them in, and after a year and a half outdoors, the two arrived friendly at heart but wary, in no hurry to trust anyone. Credit: FosterCatMomAimeeNo one rushed them. They spent their first couple of months with a rescue, then moved in with their foster, Aimee from FosterCatMomAimee, where they have lived for about four months since, and the change has been remarkable. With patience and steady attention, Tai and Airy have turned into the affectionate, playful cats they were meant to be.They are also, it turns out, two very different personalities. He is a devoted bird watcher who will camp at a window for as long as the show lasts.He is a champion of belly rubs, and he takes them so seriously that he purrs himself into a drool. She takes longer than her brother to decide about a person, but once she decides, she is all in.Win her over with a soft brush and a treat, and, as Aimee told LoveMeow, "you'll earn loud purrs, sweet little licks, and maybe even some adorable drool." AiryCredit: FosterCatMomAimeeShe has a signature move Aimee affectionately calls the Airy Special, a full belly flop delivered with total confidence. She chases balls with abandon, and, to everyone's delight, she comes when she is called.For all their differences, the two are rarely far apart. In her words, once playtime is over, the pair "can usually be found cuddling and grooming each other."Because of their rough start, they would do best in a home without dogs, though they are easy and relaxed around other cats.
