Whilst pet food banks tend to be attended by volunteers, pet pantries are often unmanned sheds, boxes, or shelters where food can be donated and retrieved, and these are proving to be a huge help for people who would otherwise do without or end up surrendering their pet rather than ask for charity.According to Paisley, in Alabama, they see a large number of cats abandoned near the shelter rather than actually being surrendered, likely by those who are too embarrassed or ashamed to ask for help. While these cats will always be cared for, she would much rather assist those who need it so that their cats can keep living at home.Our number one goal is making it so people can keep their pets, said Paisley.
