Arena Breakout Infinite is out on Steam, and it's no longer pay-to-win

If you're going to make an FPS game in 2025, you need to be perfect. It's nigh on impossible to break into the hegemony of Call of Duty and Counter-Strike, but that doesn't stop developers from trying. Arena Breakout Infinite is taking the Escape From Tarkov route: focusing heavily on realism, and trying to create a gritty extraction shooter built of those grounded mechanics. Will it succeed? Now's the time to find out, as it's finally released on Steam.

We've covered Arena Breakout Infinite a lot since it burst onto the shooter scene, largely because we were intrigued by that realism. However, the game was plagued with complaints regarding its pay-to-win currency - not something you want in your multiplayer game.

After teasing a Steam release for nearly 18 months, Arena Breakout: Infinite has finally launched on Valve's platform. With it comes the usual day one patch, although I'm not sure it counts as day one when the game has been playable on other platforms for a while now.

However, this patch makes a bunch of great changes to the game, most notably removing the Keon currency, which players complained gave paid players an advantage. The full release also launches with five maps - Farm, Valley, Armory, TV Station, and Northridge - each with its own weather cycle.

Solo mode and a trophy room- both things fans have been requesting for a while - are also available, as well as three new weapons and 40 new accessories.

Morefun also says it has implemented "one of the strongest anti-cheat systems in the genre," as well as taken a pass at the marketplace to remove certain high-tier ammos and gear for balance reasons. The largest secure cases will also be available through in-game missions.

With re-addressed balance tweaks and reworked maps, this is the best time to jump into Arena Breakout: Infinite to see if you've got what it takes to extract on every difficulty setting.

Arena Breakout Infinite is available now, for free, on Steam. You can download it here.
