The Sims 4 is finally fixing year-old bugs, so maybe my Sims will blink right

The Sims 4 has been in a bit of an odd state recently. While Krafton's Inzoi failed to be the 'Sims Killer' everyone thought it would be, The Sims' last major DLC, Enchanted By Nature, failed to wow players, currently sitting at 45% on Steam. Then there was that particularly odd bug that, erm, impregnated some Sims and left others out in the cold, which took EA a good couple of weeks to squash. In short: there are quite a few issues with Maxis' iconic life game, and it's taking a while to fix them.

That's why EA is pulling forward The Sims 4's September update, which was initially scheduled for release on Tuesday September 23, and is now launching on Thursday September 18 if you're playing on PC (console players will get the patch on the original date). This is to "quickly identify and address any potential issues" ahead of the launch of upcoming Sims 4 expansion pack, Adventure Awaits.

In its Monday, September 15 blog post, however, EA also states that the team is "doubling down efforts to focus on the most impactful issues players want resolved," urging players to vote on the forum to signpost the most important issues. Currently, the 'under investigation' tab includes bugs from up to 11 months ago, including a reload bug that causes adults and children to accidentally skip work or school, as well as  an issue with Sims' eyelids not fully closing, which apparently has been present since late 2024.

October will be spent keeping an eye on how the Adventure Awaits pack lands, then Tuesday November 4 is marked as  a "big day" with a variety of fixes and a "new, free content" drop for players.

"We assure you that we're aware of the issues impacting your play experiences, and your voices matter to us. Whether it's gameplay, Create a Sim issues, or just a visual bug, utilizing the EA Forums and casting your votes will directly shape our future updates and changes to The Sims 4," it concludes, so hopefully we'll see some of these age-old bugs finally get bonked with the hammer.

EA's big Sims 4 quality of life update will drop on Thursday September 18. The Adventure Awaits expansion pack will then be released on Thursday October 2. You can learn more about it here.
