Train Sim World 6 shows off new tilting engine and 160km route to Leipzig

I dread to think what would happen if a videogame decided to simulate an average day for Merseyrail, my local railway company here in Liverpool, UK. At least three trains would be canceled, and the subsequent ones would be so packed full of vaping teens that you wished you'd walked for three hours instead. To put it into perspective, our old trains were repurposed buses before they were replaced last year. Thankfully, Train Sim World 6 is taking us to more agreeable climes, as it has detailed in a new blog post which whisks us away on a tour of the German countryside and reveals new trains that are coming in the game.

In the lead-up to Train Sim World 6's launch, developer Dovetail Games is telling players about three routes that feature in the game. Today, it details everything you need to know about the Leipzig - Dresden line, the oldest long-distance railway in Germany. Though players may have experienced some of this route in the previous Dresden - Riesa add-on, this version is twice as long, spanning an impressive 160km.

The hit simulation game will release information about two additional routes in the coming weeks-the Morristown (USA) and Riviera (UK) lines are next-but there's more excitement today.

Dovetail Games also announces that the BR 294 shunter locomotive will be available in the deluxe and special editions of the game. Also known as the V 90 series, these brutish engines will be seen on the Bahnstrecke, either hauling freight in yards or running moving trains between facilities.

Depending on your sensibilities, the DB BR 411 ICE-T might be a more exciting prospect. These more-modern passenger trains tilt up to eight degrees on the tracks in order to travel at higher speeds than conventional counterparts. Train Sim World 6 adds a new variant of the ICE-T, with a green stripe down the side, but the most exciting aspect will be the gameplay repercussions of manually tilting the GNT system.

These headlines, along with five other new trains, will be available in the game at launch. Unfortunately, so will faults. These new failures will need to be reset in order to keep things running smoothly, and you'll have to pay attention to temporary speed restrictions and signal delays as well.

Train Sim World 6 launches on Tuesday, September 30. You can pre-order it here.

If that's too long to wait for train-simming goodness, our list of the best train games should have you covered in the meantime. Alternatively, peruse all the upcoming PC games here, so you can make sure there are no timetable clashes.

Which locomotive are you most excited to see in Train Sim World 6? let us know in our community Discord server. The tilting scares me a bit, so I think I vote for the heavy-duty V 90.
