Shape of Dreams is a new co-op roguelike blending LoL and Diablo
Some of the best roguelike games get their hooks into you by offering super precise action. Dead Cells, Returnal, and Hades 2 all work as either straightforward shooters or hack and slash experiences. The extra pull of progressing further and further into their worlds through roguelike randomization and run-based challenges only works because of their solid underlying design foundation. Shape of Dreams is a new game from Lies of P publisher Neowiz that looks to follow in this vein, blending roguelike design with multiplayer top-down action combat, and it's out now on Steam with an accompanying demo.
Shape of Dreams is set in a fantasy world where you explore strange and unpredictable environments pulled from dreams. As one of eight different characters, you engage in snappy team battles against a range of enemy types and bosses, upgrading your avatar with new abilities and enhancements as you progress further into the game's surreal levels.
What's most compelling about Shape of Dreams is the ability to play it either alone or in groups of four. The game is designed to accommodate multiplayer, emphasizing the need for smart tactics and build synergy among teammates in this mode. It also features four difficulty levels and its eight worlds are procedurally generated for each run, meaning there's plenty of reason to return to it over and over again.
Shape of Dreams is out now on Steam, with a 20% launch discount that brings its price down to $19.99 USD / £16.79. Grab a copy or try out its demo right here.
