Destiny 2 The Final Shape is now 64% off, so you need to play it now
It's been 11 years since the first Destiny game, and though it's been a tumultuous time for Bungie's original IP, I have fond memories of it. While I don't believe anything after the Light and Darkness Saga's conclusion can hold a candle to what came before, it's mainly because the saga's last expansion, The Final Shape, was so bombastic and tear-inducing. Don't believe me? Well, now's the chance to find out that the Destiny 2 DLC is at such a cheap price.
I haven't forgotten all of Destiny 2's problems, though. Yes it's still on our list of the best free PC games, but for everything Bungie does right, it also seems to add awkward features that nobody asked for. Luckily, in a Marvel Cinematic Universe-style finale, The Final Shape delivered everything I and many long-time fans were hoping for, and I still have a screenshot of the ending scene on my desktop wallpaper.
The FPS game still delivers the same brilliant firepower with excellent combat, and the new Prismatic class (a selection of Destiny's greatest abilities in one place) makes the experience even more exceptional. The Darkness' power has culminated in the arrival of The Witness, and after dealing a devastating blow to the paracausal Traveler, it's time for you and other Guardians to dive into The Pale Heart (Final Shape's new destination).
Solid gameplay isn't Destiny 2: The Final Shape's best weapon, but it certainly is great. No, the best part is how well it ties together a decade-long story, delivering on years of waiting and even bringing back Cayde-6, the charming and witty Exo Guardian who met his end in Forsaken.
I can't do such a brilliant finale justice, but our Destiny 2: The Final Shape review certainly can. In the 10/10 review, Cheri Faulkner says, "Bungie's best-in-class narrative team has outdone itself, the combat and gunplay sit at the pinnacle of the FPS genre, and I've ultimately never played anything like it", and I can only agree. Even if you haven't played the first Destiny or the second game's now-vaulted content, it still manages to tug on your heart in a way few games, let alone expansions, have ever done.
So if you're looking for an emotionally-charged DLC to enjoy for your free-to-play game, Destiny 2: The Final Shape is just $10.79 / £8.99 at Fanatical. Best of all, the expansion goes a long way to building out those Destiny 2 classes to the best of their abilities.
After grabbing your copy of The Final Shape, make sure to fine-tune your setup to the best Destiny 2 settings. They'll help to ensure you have a smooth experience in this FPS. Alternatively, there is also a Star Wars-inspired expansion coming up, so Destiny 2's got some great stuff in our upcoming PC games list.
