Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5070 Super GPUs won't be out until 2026, say reports

Nvidia is reportedly not planning to release a new lineup of GeForce RTX 5000 Super gaming GPUs in 2025, after all, according to several sites who claim to have spoken to board partners and other sources in the industry. The reports directly contradict previous rumors that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Super and 5070 Ti Super release dates would be at the end of 2025, with the 5080 Super potentially arriving later in 2026.

To be clear, that doesn't mean Nvidia has delayed the launch of these GPUs. Nvidia hasn't even confirmed the existence of these GPUs, let alone their release schedule - the company may well have not ever intended to release these rumored new GPUs this year. If these reports are true, though, we may have to wait a little longer than we'd previously hoped, before we get to update our guide to buying the best graphics card with some of these new GPUs.

The latest reports come after YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead stated that the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti would be EOL (end of life) in October this year to make room for the new Super GPUs to follow shortly afterwards, before the end of 2025. However, tech site Wccftech now says it has spoken to several sources, and confidently states that "rumors about Nvidia launching GeForce RTX 50 Super GPUs soon are false," adding that the firm is still committed to its current lineup.

The site says it's spoken to "several AICs" (referring to makers of add-in cards such as graphics cards), who all say they haven't been updated on the RTX 5000 Super launch yet. Meanwhile, another tech site Videocardz, says it's spoken to board partners who are expecting the new GPUs to be revealed at CES 2026.

This would make sense to me, as this timeframe would mark a year since the initial reveal of Blackwell at CES 2025, and it would be highly unusual for Nvidia to launch a new lineup of GPUs less than a year after the originals. We had to wait over a year between the RTX 4080 and 4080 Super, after all.

Rumors about a new Super lineup of GPUs have been circulating for a while now, after regular tech leaker kopite7kimi (who has good previous form for Nvidia leaks) dropped several specs lists for the rumored new GPUs. According to kopite7kimi, the RTX 5070 Ti Super specs feature 24GB of VRAM, while the RTX 5070 Super specs not only feature 18GB of VRAM, but also more CUDA cores. Meanwhile, the leaked RTX 5080 Super Specs feature 24GB of VRAM running at 32Gbps.
