Indie games have been eating good over the past few years. All the way back to the pandemic-fueled social games like Among Us and Fall Guys, to the likes of Balatro and this year's viral hits, Peak and Schedule 1, it seems that players are willing to give more games a try. A lot of this virality is thanks to streamers and YouTube creating social media sensations, but it's also the fact that these games hook players in straight away and don't let go. Speaking of which, Schedule 1 is adding shrooms to the game, which I can't really believe weren't in there already.

Whether you like watching the numbers go up in Balatro or planning the perfect money laundering operation to clean up your Schedule 1 profits, there's almost a guarantee that you've been hooked on an indie game over the past couple of years. Sorry, Silk-what?

But there's no denying it, developer TVGS has cooked up one of the best simulation games in recent years. Players were pulled in by its simple aesthetic and kept playing because of the great gameplay. However, for the six months since Schedule 1 launched, it has only had three narcotics available for distribution. Until now.

You start slinging marijuana in the game, before advancing to methamphetamines and, finally, cocaine. The potential profits increase as you make more connections and establish your drug empire. And yet, Schedule 1 has never flirted with psychedelics.

Last week, TVGS set up its second fan vote to see what players wanted to be added to the game next. Out of the options of drivers (and a revamped delivery system), a fishing minigame (presumably you have to get 'em hooked), and shrooms, the latter was most popular.

Schedule 1 cartel update is the perfect time to return to the smash-hit indie crime sim - A bearded man in glasses, a suit, and a pork-pie hat.

It's pretty clear that the developer wanted to add a new drug to the game, seeing as shrooms were also an option on the first community vote, which culminated in a rival cartel and shotguns being added to the game, two things that notoriously mix about as well as a speedball.

With a steady flow of updates hitting your bloodstream, Schedule 1 has the fans' interests at heart and is doubling down on its impressive first impression. If you're interested in slinging some psilocybin, TVGS promises a "totally new and unique production process," as well as a new supplier, new equipment, new effects, and new customers.

Schedule 1's shrooms update will arrive between mid-October and late November.

If you're getting back into the game ahead of the new addition, refer back to our Schedule 1 mix guide to make sure your concoctions are perfect and profitable. You should also check the best Schedule 1 settings so it runs better than a dealer when they spot a cop.
