How to upgrade Needle in Hollow Knight Silksong

How do you get the Silksong Needle upgrade? Hornet's signature weapon is the most essential tool in her arsenal. It's analogous to the Nail in Hollow Knight, and without it, you wouldn't stand a chance of making it out of Pharloom alive.

You might find that Hollow Knight Silksong enemies are taking one too many hits to defeat than you'd like, especially once you begin to encounter more formidable Silksong bosses. While the earliest sections of the Silksong map can be cleared relatively easily, picking up the Needle upgrade is the best way to make your time in the Metroidvania game a lot easier in the long term. Trust us, clearing trash mobs in two hits is a lot faster than five.

Silksong Needle upgrade location

To upgrade your Needle, speak to Pinmaster Plinney in Bellhart after you defeat the Widow boss.

You can find Plinney in the bellhouse on the right, marked by three white pins above the door. Cycle through his dialogue and select 'Yes' when prompted with 'Sharpen Needle?' to receive the Sharpened Needle.

The Needle upgrade is as straightforward as you can get, applying a base damage boost that extends to skills like the Silkspear. It might not make the Silksong diagonal dive attack any easier, but it should help make up for any skill issues going into the mid-game and beyond.
