New Roadcraft update makes the strangely therapeutic simulation game much harder

Roadcraft is one of the best sandbox games to emerge out of the landscape in the last few years. Its realism and its attention to detail make it stand out. Now, Roadcraft has gotten more realistic and more challenging with the free Rebuild expansion. The update lets you fully customize the game's difficulty, facilitating endless replayability of what was already an expansive simulation game. The update doesn't stop there, adding two maps and four vehicles.

If you are unfamiliar with Roadcraft, the game tasks you with disaster relief. You'll enter a disaster zone with a suite of vehicles to rebuild its infrastructure and clean up messes. The process can be difficult, but there is something gratifying, even therapeutic, about salvaging hope from disaster. These new difficulty options get granular, letting you change the basic ideas that Roadcraft is built on. Each individual difficulty option has its own toggle, meaning you can truly customize your challenge until it fits what you want to experience. You can make it so the ground degrades allow commonly taken paths, forcing you to plan your convoy routes more carefully, or add realistic gearboxes. You can even just make resources like fuel and bridges more expensive. Know that if you make things too difficult, you have no one but yourself to blame.

Beside the difficulty changes, two new maps add more disasters for you to alleviate. In Contamination, you'll rebuild a railway and restore poisoned waters after a train derailment. In Wash Out, you'll drain a flooded rural area. Four new vehicles give you more tools to face the challenges ahead. For example, the Tayga 6455B Bridge Layer lets to place bridges on the go. These new features expand and deepen one of the best simulation games around.
